The Board is looking to add 2 new directors in 2023

The Board is looking to add 2 new directors in 2023

The AVRA Annual General Meeting is scheduled to take place Monday, May 8th, 2023. One of the agenda items will be voting for your board of directors.

The AVRA board is comprised of four directors from the condos and four from homes on the Trails, plus one from either the condos or the Trails, each elected for two years and eligible for three consecutive two-year terms.

There are currently two vacant positions on the Board. Steve Luckett and Gary Kurlicki have both served their maximum six year terms. Four directors, Christine Adam-Carr, Robin Richardson, Marius Felix and Robert Lloyd-Rees are all standing for re-election for another term. The remaining three directors are partway through their terms, and will be continuing to serve on your board.

Amberwood Village Golf and Country Club continues to undergo considerable change and we need Board members with a broad skill set that represent a diverse cross section of the Community. We are seeking talented individuals that will bring positive enthusiasm to help us move forward with our strategic objectives.

The Board members are currently meeting once a month for 2 hours. Additional time will be required to lead or support the Board’s initiatives. This could be in the range of 10-12 hours per month, depending on the level of committee involvement.

Interested AVRA members wanting to be considered for nominations should make their intentions known as soon as possible (before March 15) by sending a brief bio to Bernie Ashe (chair of the Nominating Committee) at [email protected]. The three person Nominating Committee is comprised of one current Board member, and two residents from the community who are not board members, one each from the condos and trails.

The nominating committee will review your bio and interview you with respect to the position.

The process to elect board members is guided by our bylaws.

The bylaws allow for additional nominations, outside of the Nominating Committee process, as follows:

Any additional nominations must be endorsed by seven AVRA members in good standing and presented to the board—with a profile description of the candidate’s background—no later than 6 days before the AGM. If such additional nominations are submitted, then a membership vote will be held as part of the AGM. (Bylaw 3.1)

Please refer to our AVRA website for further information about AVRA, and other volunteer opportunities, including serving on Board committees.

Thank you,

Bernie Ashe
Chair, Nominating Committee
