Membership in AVRA is open to all property owners of condos, single-family homes and vacant lots within the following boundaries:
Hazeldean Road on the north, Abbott Street on the south, the Hydro right-of-way that runs between Amberlakes and Amberwood (including all houses on Hedgerow) on the west, and the path between the Amberwood and Forest Creek neighbourhoods on the east.
Within these borders, there are 788 households; more than half of them are AVRA members. Each household is entitled to one membership which may be jointly held. However, each household has only one vote in elections to the AVRA Board of Directors or in other key decisions.
As a not-for-profit corporation without share capital, AVRA does not give members financial dividends. However, it does give them another very valuable benefit—a voice in the use of the golf course and its many related amenities. AVRA’s 50-acre property also provides wildlife habitat, fresh air, flood control, an uninterrupted skyline and low traffic flow through the community. The more households become involved, the more AVRA—and all it has to offer—will thrive!
